I took ours camping with my troop. We boiled water the evening prior to and crammed the carafe in "hopes" that it could be warm the next morning. It used to be HOT. As the womans awoke we were in a position to direct them to hot chocolate whereas early risers received morning meal going.
I'm now taking a look to replace mine for the explanation that hinge broke when it was knocked of the desk on our closing travel. I would not purchase anything else. Have tried others. This pot is HOT.
